PIPELINE, Hawaii/USA (Friday, January 20, 2012) – Solid winter surf is shaping up for the start of the holding period of the Volcom Pipe Pro next Monday, January 23, at Banzai Pipeline, Hawaii. A $130,000 5-star Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) event that will feature 112 surfers from around the globe, the Volcom Pipe Pro will be held on the three biggest and best days of surf between Jan. 23 and Feb. 4.

LOS ANGELES, California/USA (Monday, January 16, 2012) – CJ Hobgood (USA), 32, has been a staple among surfing’s elite names for over a decade. The 2001 ASP World Champion has constantly proven his abilities in all conditions from small beachbreaks to heaving barrels, but 2011 proved to be a year of peaks and valleys for the Floridian gentleman. Hobgood failed to requalify for the September midyear rotation, finding himself off of the elite ASP World Tour for the first time since 1999.

Reef McIntosh has conquered the Da Hui Backdoor Shootout 2012, held in splendid surfing conditions, in Pipeline, Hawaii. Intense heats were surfed in the famous big wave arena, in eight-foot glassy sets. It was an hard fought victory for the Pipe connoisseur. Bruce Irons, Jamie O'Brien and Marcus Hickman were right behind McIntosh until the last surfed wave.


"I just stopped watching because I thought Jamie, and then John, passed me," McIntosh laughed. "I don't want to ever experience that pressure again."

HONOLULU, Hawaii (Nov. 27, 2011) – Life-threatening surf and intense conditions at Sunset Beach snapped competitors back to reality today as the first round of the $250,000 Vans World Cup of Surfing got underway in serious 10- to 12-foot waves. It also brought spectators out in droves, resulting in the largest crowd at Sunset Beach in the 38-year history of the event. The Vans World Cup is the second leg of the illustrious Vans Triple Crown of Surfing, presented by Rockstar Energy Drink.
